Contract
Everyone wants to be the next greatest thing, even us. We are a spray foam company who became a full-service insulation company who became a thermal company who became a roofing company who became a concrete lifting company and it’s not going to stop there. On our journey, we have been united by one common vision, we want to go beyond what has been done before in the construction world with people we like to be around. Beyond wants to install and build things that make a difference in people’s lives and we want to have fun while doing it.
We’re looking for a freelance content writer— ideally a student in journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field — who wants to earn some extra income while building real-world experience in content creation, brand storytelling, and construction marketing.
This is not your average writing gig. You’ll spend time at the Beyond shop, talk to real tradespeople, and learn how to turn conversations about insulation, roofing, coatings, and concrete lifting into stories people actually want to read.
If you can blend curiosity, technical understanding, and a bit of wit —we’ll teach you the rest.
Research & Field Learning
• Learn the basics of building envelope systems, spray foam insulation, roof coatings, and concrete lifting.
• Interview Beyond's team members to uncover stories, insights, and lessons from the job site.
• Research topics, verify facts, and help turn trade knowledge into customer-friendly content.
Writing & Storytelling
• Write 3-4 educational blogs per week using the They Ask, You Answer framework (don't worry - we'll train you on it).
• Combine technical details (R-values, curing times, substrate prep) with storytelling that builds trust and connection.
• Write clearly, concisely, and confidently - no fluff, no filler, just truth told well.
Collaboration & Growth
• Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator to develop content ideas and refine your writing voice.
• Visit the shop or sites regularly to see, hear, and feel what you're writing about.
• Learn how to write for SEO, plan content calendars, and measure engagement.
• Currently studying or recentlygraduated in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a relatedfield.
• Strong writing skills and a genuine interest in learning about construction, trades, or building science.
• Detail-oriented and open to feedback (we’re big on growth and honesty).
• Reliable and self-motivated — you can hit deadlines without hand-holding.
• Comfortable chatting with tradespeople, asking questions, and turning conversations into stories
• Consistent, flexible freelance work (3–4 blogs per week).
• Real-world writing experience for a growing, innovative construction company.
• Mentorship from a marketing team that actually cares about your growth.
• A work family that values humor, grit, and honesty over corporate polish.
• The chance to see your writing make a tangible impact — in print, online, and on job sites.
