6 Questions to Ask Before You Hire a Concrete Lifting Company

Sep 5, 2025

🔍 Intro Paragraph:

Hiring the wrong contractor can cost you thousands in repeat repairs. These seven questions will help you separate the real pros from the patch jobs—and make sure your lift lasts.

✅ The 6 Questions:

  1. What kind of warranty do you offer? What does it actually cover?
A solid warranty should be in writing, state how long it lasts, and explain what happens if your slab sinks again.
  2. How do you assess whether the soil under my concrete is stable?
Soil is the #1 reason lifting jobs fail. First of all, your contractor should be asking you what year your house was built. Secondly, ask if they evaluate the subgrade condition or offer deep foam injection for added stability.
  3. Do you offer deep foam injection? When is it needed?
Deep injection is a must for weak or un-compacted soils. It strengthens everything below your slab and prevents re-settling.
  4. How much foam is included in your quote? What happens if you need more?
Clear estimates should state exactly how much material is included, and what happens if you go over.
  5. Do you fill voids caused by water erosion or poor drainage?
Don’t just lift the slab, fix the problem underneath. Ask about fill foam for large gaps or soft spots.
  6. What’s included in your terms and conditions?
Read the fine print. Look for fair language, foam details, cleanup expectations, and any exclusions.

💡 Bonus Tip:

If you're pouring a new concrete pad, make sure the soil underneath is compacted in layers. Use a tamper, soak it, or let it settle naturally before building. Most people skip this step—and it shows.
