‍THE PROBLEM: HOW DO YOU CHASE YOUR DREAMS AND STILL AFFORD A HOME?

Hayden Meyer is not your average guy. He’s a two-time world championship medalist, a member of Canada’s Senior National Long Track Speed Skating Team, and, like so many others, he’s been hit hard by rising housing costs.

Rent in Calgary was getting out of control. So Hayden and his girlfriend, Rose, made a bold decision:

Instead of fighting the market, they’d step out of it completely.

They would go off-grid.

THE IDEA: A TINY HOME, BIG DREAMS

It was ambitious. It was different. And it came with a whole new set of challenges.

Electricity? Solar.
Water? Self-sufficient.
Heat? Well, that’s where things got tricky.

Keeping a home warm in Canadian winters, without the safety net of city utilities, meant making one crucial decision: insulation.

Get it wrong, and their new home would be unlivable.

Hayden, like any high-performance athlete, did his research.

And research led him straight to spray foam insulation.

With the insulation installed, Hayden and Rose could finally breathe.

Their home? Warm.
Their systems? Protected.

Now, Hayden can focus on his sport, representing Canada on the world stage, while Rose continues her incredible work at the Children’s Hospital.

They took a chance. They built a dream. And we got to be a part of it.
